果酸(AHA)的一種，又稱為扁桃酸(amygdalic acid)，有少數的研究指出，杏仁酸可以作為其他果酸的替代品，杏仁酸雖然具有殺菌的功能，但是和其他果酸不同，杏仁酸會對光起反應，因此必須包裝在不透光的容器 (出處: Handbook of Cosmetic and Personal Care Additives, Second Edition, volume 2, Synapse Information Resources, 2002)。
